UGG Leads Industry Certifies Terminal Elevators for ISO/HACCP

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--United Grain Growers Limited (UGG) today announced that its terminal elevators in Vancouver, British
Columbia and Thunder Bay, Ontario have received joint registrationfor two demanding quality standards - ISO 9001:2000 and HACCP
(Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Points) - for terminal handling of grains, oilseeds and special crops.
"This year, UGG shipped close to three and a half million tonnes through our terminals to countries all over the world. These
customers expect to receive products of consistent quality," said Murdoch MacKay, Managing Director of Terminal Services. "The
ISO/HACCP registration demonstrates that UGG has responded to their needs and strengthened our position in the grain pipeline
from the farmer to the end user." Receiving the ISO 9001:2000 registration means that UGG has met an
international set of standards and has adopted an effective quality management system. To qualify, UGG terminals had to
document the procedures involved in receiving, cleaning, and shipping product in order to provide a guide for producing the
same consistent quality each and every time. UGG demonstrated it has addressed all areas of the standard and has documented
procedures to ensure that each area is monitored and controlled. HACCP is an internationally recognized system of quality control
management for food safety that is designed to manage and document the many stages of the food production chain. It demonstrates
traceability of food safety throughout the processing and handling activities.

The registration provides numerous benefits to UGG and its customers. "Meeting the demanding quality standards ensures UGG
remains a supplier of choice and indicates our commitment to
processes that create quality and consistency," said Ken Ganczar, UGG's co-ordinator for the ISO/HACCP registration. "We also expect
to see additional savings related to efficiency and process consistency."

UGG was assisted in the process by Fred Andersen of F.B. Andersen and Associates Inc., a Certified Management Consultant and
registered ISO specialist who pioneered the joint ISO/HACCP multi-site certification format. The third-party registration
audit was conducted by Deloitte & Touche Quality Registrar Inc. UGG is one of western Canada's largest agribusiness firms. Founded
in 1906, the Winnipeg based company is diversified into crop input sales, grain merchandising, livestock production services and farm
business communications. UGG is publicly traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange and Winnipeg Stock Exchange under the symbol "UGG".
